TMD from Coast to Coast (and Beyond)

We have exciting news at TMD(Tracy Morris Design) … we are expanding! From the Hamptons to San Diego, Puerto Rico to Dallas, we are partnering with clients to see their home design dreams come true.

In actuality, we have been expanding our work for many years. Over the past decade, we have had the pleasure of working with repeat clients from coast to coast. With the advent of new technologies and the ability to ship and receive products virtually anywhere, designing a home from afar has never been easier. We have also been able to develop a nationwide network of suppliers (furniture, fixtures, etc.), storage facilities, and craftsman to make each design project run as smoothly as possible. The time it takes to complete a project, from inception to completion, is not affected by long-distance planning.

Thanks to rapid development in computer-aided design (CAD), we can easily convey information – such as materials, processes, and dimensions – to our out-of-town clients. For example, we are currently working on the design of a home in Washington, D.C. for a client based in London. Though we only meet face-to-face a couple times a year, we have been able to seamlessly work thought the design process by relying on CAD.

CAD software allows us to improve the quality of design delivered to our clients as well as improve designer/client communications through documentation. Each of our clients – whether local, national, or international – receives customized plans and client packets (with comprehensive information about fabric, furniture, and tile choices).

Whenever possible, we do like to visit a worksite and meet with our clients.

This allows us to share ideas, samples, and to get an overall feeling of a client’s personal style as well as the setting of the worksite. However, the design process is the same for all of our clients. (See my recent article Budgeting Your Time to Complete a Design Project for a brief outline of my deign timeline.)
