Old World Meets New

East Village, Georgetown

We were very excited when our past clients contacted us to renovate their newly purchased rowhome in the East Village of Georgetown. Working collaboratively with BarnesVanze Architects and Horizon Builders, we successfully blended old-world charm with modern functionality. We chose old-world colors with a twist, indicating a color scheme that combines timeless hues with contemporary variations throughout the home.

This project started in the heart of the home: the kitchen. We combined traditional elements like white shaker cabinets and stainless-steel appliances with modern conveniences. We installed beautiful leathered quartz countertops and backsplash, complemented by leather stools. A stylish, circular dining table offers the perfect place for a relaxing family meal or hosting a dinner party. The Butler’s pantry features a coffee bar, offering a functional and stylish space hosting and plenty of storage.

Thoughtful consideration was given to the dedicated workspaces in the home since the homeowners work from home. We created a beautiful home office with plenty of built-ins for books and storage. We chose Benjamin Moore’s Amazon Green for the space, making it a tranquil working area. We also created multiple workplaces around the home. This included a desk nook in the primary bedroom and a game table in the living area, which can be converted to a work desk.

We also used Benjamin Moore’s Amazon Green for the trim in the powder room. This complements the wallpaper and helps to create a cohesive, integrated look. The main feature of the powder room is a custom-designed sink made from a solid slab of stone, adding a touch of luxury and uniqueness.

Finally, we designed the lower level to be a teen hangout, providing a sophisticated space for recreation and relaxation.

While we did not alter the home’s original footprint, we did make some exterior enhancements. We painted the exterior of the home taupe and added black windows for a sophisticated look. We also upgraded the front door, contributing to the home’s aesthetics and security.
