Hiring a Construction-Minded Interior Designer

Choosing an Interior Designer

When people begin the process of choosing a team of professionals to design their home, they often consider if they need an interior designer or an architect. Few people realize that many interior designers have some knowledge and training in architectural concepts and vice versa. While both of these professions revolve around home design, there are always cases where one skill set is preferred over the other.

Construction-Minded Interior Designer

As a construction-minded interior designer, I feel that my unique set of skills sets me apart from other designers. I have built ongoing relationships with architects and builders in the DC metro area and across the nation. With over a decade of experience in the industry, here are some skills I can offer:

  • I understand construction jargon and speak the language. Because of this, I can act as a true liaison between client and architects and builders.
  • I plan from the “outside in.” Because I have an intricate understanding of the construction process, I can plan ahead to avoid added financial costs and time delays.
  • I can forecast when each and every item for the project needs to be ordered and delivered to the worksite. This keeps the project on time and on budget.
  • If an item needs to be reordered or replaced, I am on site to make sure that the process goes as smoothly as possible.

Team Approach

I find that, by taking a team approach, the process of designing your dream home goes much more smoothly, and our clients are much happier with the finished product. Over the years, we have partnered with many architects, general contractors, and custom-home builders to the benefit of our clients.

While we are based in the DC Metro region, serving clients in Northern Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and the Eastern Shore, we also work outside the region. We have worked up and down the East Coast, West Coast, Puerto Rico, and other parts of the United States.
