Timeless Kitchen Design
McLean, VA
The kitchen is often the most used space in the home, serving as a gathering spot for family meals, good conversation, entertaining, and (occasionally) homework. Therefore, the kitchen needs to be a well-designed space that adds to the functionality of the home.
In this project, the clients asked us to redesign their kitchen with the goal of turning it into a large entertaining area for family and friends. After gutting the kitchen down to the studs, we completely re-imagined the layout. We also created a scullery with a sink, an extra-large refrigerator, and plenty of storage.
We turned to a timeless color combination for the finishing touches: blue and gold. This is the first project where we used dark cabinets throughout the entire kitchen. While it was a complete departure from our usual design, it worked very well. To balance the dark blue, we incorporated rye-colored wood and gold finishes to warm the space and make it more welcoming.
